Kiffa beads are glass beads made from sintered glass powder, a type of recycled glass bead. They were discovered in 1949 by ethnologist R. Mauny around the city of Kiffa in Mauritania, which is how they got their name. The most famous Kiffa beads feature isosceles triangle shapes with vertical stripes.
