About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, created by baking natural dyes onto agate, similar to Etched Carnelian beads. These beads are believed to date from approximately the 1st to 6th century AD. Despite their long history, the exact components of the dyes used in their creation remain a mystery. While primarily found in Tibet, they have also been discovered in Bhutan and regions of the Himalayas such as Ladakh. The different baked patterns on Dzi Beads are thought to hold various meanings, with beads featuring circular "eye" motifs being particularly prized. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are considered talismans for wealth and prosperity and are cherished as heirlooms. Recently, their popularity has also surged in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" and many replicas made using similar techniques are available. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain highly rare and valuable.
