About Trade Beads:
During the 17th to 19th centuries, glass bead making flourished in Venice, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. Many of these beads were exported to Africa, where they were traded for goods such as gemstones and slaves, playing a crucial role as trade items. Beads that crossed the seas as trade goods are known as "trade beads."
