About Chinese Warring States Beads:

Warring States Beads: These beads, created during China's Warring States period (5th – 3rd century BCE), are known as "戦国玉." The earliest Chinese glass, dating back to the 11th – 8th century BCE, was excavated in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, it wasn't until the Warring States period that glass products began to circulate widely. Early Warring States beads primarily featured patterns on faience, a type of ceramic. Later, entirely glass beads were also produced. Many of these beads exhibit patterns such as "七星玉" or "貼眼玉," characterized by spotted designs. Although the glass-making techniques and design elements were influenced by West Asia, the material composition of Chinese glass from this period differed, highlighting the sophistication of ancient Chinese glass-making. These beads are not only of historical significance but are also cherished for their diverse designs and vibrant colors.
