About Warring States Beads:
Warring States Beads, or "戦国玉," refer to glass beads made during China's Warring States period (5th-3rd century BCE), prior to the unification by the Qin dynasty. While China's earliest glass artifacts date back to the 11th-8th century BCE, discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province, it wasn't until the Warring States period that glass products began to circulate widely. Early Warring States beads were typically ceramic substrates with glass patterns, known as faience. Later, fully glass beads were produced, featuring designs like "Seven Star Beads" and "Eye Beads." These designs were influenced by Western Asian techniques, such as Roman glass, though the materials used in Chinese glass from this era differ significantly, highlighting the advanced glassmaking skills of ancient China. These beads are not only of historical significance but are also highly valued for their intricate designs and vibrant colors.
