About Chinese Warring States Beads:

Warring States Beads, known as "戦国玉," were created during China's Warring States period, approximately from the 5th to 3rd century BCE, before the unification by the Qin dynasty. The earliest glass artifacts in China, dating from the 11th to 8th centuries BCE, were discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, it wasn't until the Warring States period that glass products began to circulate widely.

Early Warring States beads were primarily made from faience, a ceramic material decorated with glass patterns. Later, fully glass-made beads became common. Many beads from this period feature patterns such as the "Seven-Star Bead" or "貼眼玉," characterized by their dotted designs. Although many techniques and design elements were influenced by West Asian regions, like Roman glass, the materials used in Chinese glass from this era differ in composition. This distinction highlights the advanced glass-making skills in ancient China.

These beads are not only of historical value, marking the beginning of glass history in China, but also cherished by collectors for their rich designs and vibrant colors.
