About Warring States Beads:
Known as Warring States Beads, these glass beads were crafted during the Warring States period (5th-3rd Century BCE) before China's unification under Qin. The earliest Chinese glass artifacts date back to the 11th-8th Century BCE, excavated in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, glass products became widespread during the Warring States period. Early Warring States beads primarily featured faience bases with glass patterns, later evolving into entirely glass beads. Patterns often included "seven star beads" or "eye beads," characterized by their dotted designs. While the design and techniques were influenced by Western Asia, particularly Roman glass, the materials used in Chinese glass from this period differ in composition, highlighting the advanced glass-making skills in ancient China. These beads are not only historically significant but also cherished for their rich designs and vivid colors, making them highly sought after by collectors.
