About Ancient Chinese Eye Beads:

Warring States Beads, known as "戦国玉" (Warring States Beads), were crafted during the Warring States period of China, approximately from the 5th to 3rd centuries BCE, before the unification by the Qin dynasty. Early examples of Chinese glass, dating back to the 11th to 8th century BCE, were discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, the widespread production and distribution of glass items began during the Warring States period.

Initially, Warring States Beads were primarily made using faience—a ceramic material decorated with glass. Later, fully glass beads began to emerge. Common patterns include the "七星玉" (Seven-Star Beads) and "貼眼玉" (Eye Beads), characterized by their dotted designs. While the techniques and design elements of these beads were influenced by Western Asian regions like Roman glass, the material composition of Chinese ancient glass differs, highlighting the unique glassmaking skills of ancient China.

These beads not only have significant historical value as early examples of Chinese glass but are also highly prized by collectors for their intricate designs and vibrant colors.
