About Warring States Beads:

Warring States Beads - These beads, known as "Sengoku-dama," were produced during China's Warring States period, which spanned from the 5th to 3rd centuries BCE, before the unification under the Qin dynasty. The earliest Chinese glass, dating back to the 11th to 8th centuries BCE, was excavated in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, it wasn't until the Warring States period that glass products began to see widespread use. Early Warring States beads often featured patterns applied to ceramic substrates using glass, known as faience. Later on, fully glass beads were also produced. Common designs include the "Seven-Star Bead" and the "Layered Eye Bead," characterized by their dotted patterns. While many glassmaking techniques and design elements were influenced by Roman glass from West Asia, the materials used in these Chinese beads are distinct, showcasing the advanced glassmaking technology of ancient China. These beads are highly valued not only for their historical significance but also for their rich designs and vibrant colors, making them beloved by collectors.
