About Warring States Beads:
The "Warring States Beads" refer to glass beads created during the Warring States period, approximately from the 5th to the 3rd century BCE, before the unification of China by the Qin dynasty. The oldest glass in China dates back to the 11th to 8th centuries BCE, discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, it wasn't until the Warring States period that glass products began to be widely circulated. Early Warring States beads primarily featured faience, a kind of ceramic material with glass designs. Later, entirely glass beads were produced. Patterns such as "Seven Star Beads" and "Eye Beads" were commonly applied as decorations. Despite similarities to Roman glass from Western Asia, the materials used in Chinese ancient glass, including Warring States beads, differ in composition, attesting to the advanced glass-making techniques of ancient China. These beads are valued not only for their historical significance but also for their intricate designs and vibrant colors, making them a favorite among collectors.
