About Millefiori:

In Africa, these are known as Chacha So. "Millefiori" means "a thousand flowers" in Italian. Following the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the dominance of Bohemian glass in European markets, Venice produced these decorative glass pieces as a countermeasure. Millefiori Glass became a hallmark of this response. Traders, already engaged in bead trade with Africa, crafted tube-shaped beads from this glass, which were then traded as beads in Africa.
