About Millefiori:

In Africa, Millefiori beads are known as "Chachasaw." The term "Millefiori" is Italian for "a thousand flowers." Following the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the market dominance of Bohemian glass, Venice responded by creating a variety of decorative glass pieces. One of the most iconic of these is Millefiori glass. Venetian traders, who were already engaged in bead trade with Africa, crafted these cylindrical glass beads from Millefiori glass and transported them to Africa as trade beads.
