Technique: Millefiori, meaning "a thousand flowers" in Italian, involves intricate mosaic application or incorporation. Known as "Chachasso" in Africa, these beads were created by Venetian artisans as a response to the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the dominance of Bohemian glass in European markets. Venetian traders, already engaged in bead trade with Africa, crafted these vibrant glass beads into cylindrical forms and transported them to Africa as trade beads.
