About Millefiori:
Millefiori beads date back to the late 1800s to early 1900s and originated in Venice. The technique used involves either mosaic application or mosaic insertion. In Africa, these beads are known as "Chachaso." The term "Millefiori" translates to "a thousand flowers" in Italian. As Venice faced economic challenges due to the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the dominance of Bohemian glass in the European market, Venetian artisans developed these colorful decorative glass pieces as a countermeasure. Traders who were already engaged in bead trade with Africa crafted tubular beads from this glass, which were then transported to Africa as trade beads.
