About Millefiori:
Millefiori, meaning "a thousand flowers" in Italian, refers to a glasswork technique that dates back to the late 1800s to early 1900s. Originating from Venice, this technique involves creating intricate mosaic patterns or incorporating mosaic designs within the glass. Known as "Chachaso" in Africa, Millefiori beads became popular as trade beads. After the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the rise of Bohemian glass dominating European markets, Venice responded by producing these colorful decorative glasses. Traders, already engaged in bead trade with Africa, crafted tubular Millefiori beads from this glass and transported them as trade beads to Africa.
