About Millefiori:
In Africa, these beads are known as "Chachaso." The term "Millefiori" is Italian for "a thousand flowers." After the collapse of exclusive trade with the East, Venice faced significant economic challenges as Bohemian glass dominated the European market. In response, Venice created richly colored decorative glass, with Millefiori glass being a notable example. Traders who were already engaged in bead trade with Africa crafted cylindrical glass beads from these Millefiori pieces, which were then exported to Africa as trade beads.
