About Millefiori:

Origin: Venice
Technique: Mosaic application method or mosaic inlay beads
In Africa, these beads are known as "Chachaso." The term "Millefiori" means "a thousand flowers" in Italian. After the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the dominance of Bohemian glass in the European market, Venice suffered significant economic setbacks. In response, Venetian artisans created Millefiori glass, known for its vibrant decorative patterns. Traders who were already engaged in bead trade with Africa made cylindrical glass beads from these Millefiori pieces and transported them to Africa as trade beads.
