About Etched Carnelian:

Etched Carnelian beads from the Indus Valley Civilization are created by applying a natron solution derived from plants to the carnelian and firing it at low temperatures between 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. These beads have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, but are believed to have been made in the Indus River region and transported overland and by sea.
