About Etched Carnelian:

Era: 2500 BCE to 1800 BCE

Originating from the Indus Valley Civilization, Etched Carnelian beads were created by drawing patterns on carnelian stones using a natron solution derived from plants, and then firing them at low temperatures of about 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. Although they have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that these beads were made in the Indus River region and transported via land and sea routes.
