About Etched Carnelian:
Era: 2500 BCE to 1800 BCE
Etched Carnelian beads originate from the Indus Valley Civilization. They were created by drawing patterns on carnelian beads using a natron liquid derived from plants and then firing them at low temperatures of approximately 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. Though also excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, these beads were primarily produced in the Indus River Valley and transported via land and sea routes.
