About Millefiori Glass Beads:

Millefiori, meaning "a thousand flowers" in Italian, is a technique that dates back to the late 1800s to early 1900s. Originating from Venice, these beads are created using either mosaic application or mosaic inclusions. In Africa, they are known as "Chachaso." Venice, facing economic challenges from the dominance of Bohemian glass in European markets and the collapse of exclusive trade with the East, innovatively produced these colorful decorative glass beads. Venetian merchants, already engaged in bead trade with Africa, crafted cylindrical Millefiori beads from this glass and traded them as valuable trade beads on the African continent.
