About Millefiori:
Millefiori, meaning "a thousand flowers" in Italian, refers to a kind of decorative glassware. Originating in Venice from the late 1800s to early 1900s, Millefiori beads are created using mosaic application or mosaic inlay techniques. Known as "Chachaso" in Africa, these beads were produced as a response to the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the domination of Bohemian glass in the European market. Venetian traders, who had already been engaging in bead trade with Africa, crafted cylindrical beads from these colorful glasses and transported them to Africa as trade beads.
