About Millefiori:

Millefiori, meaning "a thousand flowers" in Italian, is also known as "chachasoo" in Africa. This decorative glass was created by Venice as a countermeasure after the collapse of exclusive trade with the East and the market dominance of Bohemian glass in Europe. Venetian traders, already engaged in bead trading with Africa, crafted cylindrical glass beads from Millefiori glass, which were then transported to Africa as trade beads.
