About Etched Carnelian:
Era: Circa 2500-1800 BCE
Originating from the Indus Valley Civilization, these carnelian beads were decorated with patterns using natron, a liquid derived from plants, and then baked at low temperatures of around 300-400 degrees Celsius. While they are also unearthed from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that those made in the Indus River region were transported via land and sea routes.
