About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi Beads are ancient beads originating from Tibet. Similar to etched carnelian, these beads are made by baking natural dyes onto agate to create intricate patterns. They are believed to have been crafted between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. Despite their long history, the exact composition of the dyes used in their creation remains a mystery, adding to their enigmatic allure. While primarily found in Tibet, these beads have also been discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Each pattern is thought to hold different meanings, with the round "eye" motif being particularly prized for its excellent condition. In Tibetan culture, Dzi Beads are regarded as amulets of wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations and cherished as valuable adornments. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tianzhu" and numerous replicas made using similar techniques have emerged. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads retain their high rarity and value.
