About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, comparable to etched carnelian. They are made by burning natural dyes into agate to create intricate patterns. Believed to be crafted between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, the exact components of the dyes used remain a mystery. These beads are primarily found in Tibet but also discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Different burn patterns signify various meanings, with the "eye" pattern being particularly prized. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are considered talismans of wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations and treasured as ornaments. Recently, they have gained popularity in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" and many replicas have been made using similar techniques. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain extremely rare and valuable.
