About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi Beads are ancient beads originating from Tibet. Similar to Etched Carnelian, they are crafted by firing natural dyes into agate to create intricate patterns. These beads date back to approximately the 1st to 6th centuries AD. Despite their age, the exact composition of the dyes remains a mystery, adding to their enigmatic allure. Primarily found in Tibet, these beads are also discovered in regions like Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayan range. Each pattern holds distinct meanings, with eye motifs being particularly coveted for their association with wealth and prosperity. Dzi Beads are cherished and handed down through generations as protective talismans and valuable adornments. In recent years, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tianzhu." While many replicas are produced using similar techniques, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain exceptionally rare and highly valued.
