About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian, created by baking natural dyes onto agate to form intricate patterns. These beads are believed to date back to approximately the 1st to 6th centuries AD. Despite their age, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, making them one of the most enigmatic antique beads. Primarily found in Tibet, they are also discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Different patterns on the beads are thought to hold various meanings, with the "eye" pattern being particularly prized. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are cherished as amulets for wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations as valuable heirlooms. Recently, they have gained popularity in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" and many replicas are being produced using similar techniques. However, genuine ancient Dzi Beads remain extremely rare and highly sought after.
