About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet. Similar to etched carnelian, they are designed by baking natural dyes onto agate. These beads are believed to have been made around the 1st to 6th centuries AD. However, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, adding to their enigmatic allure. While primarily found in Tibet, they are also discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Different baked patterns on these beads are believed to hold various meanings, with the "eye" pattern being especially prized for its excellent condition. In Tibetan culture, Dzi Beads are cherished as amulets of wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations. Recently, they have gained popularity in China, where they are called "Tianzhu" and many replicas made using similar techniques are available. Nevertheless, ancient Dzi Beads are incredibly rare and highly valued.
