About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi beads are ancient beads from Tibet, created by baking natural dyes onto agate to form intricate designs, similar to etched carnelian. These beads are believed to date back to the 1st to 6th centuries AD. Despite their age, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery. Primarily found in Tibet, they have also been discovered in regions like Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. Different patterns on the beads are said to have various meanings, with the "eye" motif being particularly prized for its association with wealth and prosperity. In Tibet, these beads are cherished as protective amulets and passed down through generations. The popularity of Dzi beads has also surged in China, where they are referred to as "Tian Zhu" and widely replicated. However, authentic ancient Dzi beads are exceptionally rare and highly valued.
