About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads originating from Tibet, similar to Etched Carnelian, where natural dyes are baked onto agate to create intricate designs. These beads are believed to have been made between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. Despite their long history, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, adding to their enigmatic allure. While they are predominantly found in Tibet, they have also been discovered in regions like Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. The different baked designs on these beads hold various meanings, with the "eye" pattern being particularly prized for its symbol of wealth and prosperity. In Tibetan culture, Dzi Beads are cherished as protective amulets and passed down through generations. Their rarity has also sparked interest in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" and have inspired numerous replicas. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads are highly valued and rare collectibles.
