About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian, featuring designs created by firing natural dyes onto agate. These beads are believed to have been made between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. Despite the mystery surrounding the components of the dyes used, Dzi Beads are highly valued antique beads. They are mainly found in Tibet but can also be discovered in regions like Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. Different patterns, especially the "eye" motif, are believed to hold various meanings, with well-preserved "eye" designs being extremely popular. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are treasured as amulets for wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations and valued as jewelry. Recently, their popularity has also surged in China, where they are referred to as "Tian Zhu" and many replicas made using similar techniques are available. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads are very rare and highly sought after.
