About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian. They are made by burning natural dyes into agate to create intricate patterns. It is believed that these beads were created between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. The exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, making Dzi Beads one of the more enigmatic antique beads. Primarily found in Tibet, they are also discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Each pattern on the beads carries different meanings, with the "eye" motif being particularly prized for its association with wealth and prosperity. Dzi Beads are cherished heirlooms in Tibet, often regarded as talismans for fortune and passed down through generations. Recently, they have gained popularity in China under the name "Tian Zhu," with many replicas produced using similar techniques. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads are extremely rare and highly valued.
