About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian, designed by baking natural dyes into agate to create intricate patterns. These beads are believed to have been made between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. The exact components of the dyes used remain a mystery, adding to the enigmatic allure of these antique beads. While primarily found in Tibet, Dzi Beads have also been discovered in Bhutan and regions of the Himalayas such as Ladakh. Different patterns carry various meanings, with the round "eye" motifs being particularly sought after for their excellent condition. In Tibetan culture, Dzi Beads are cherished as amulets of wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations and valued as ornamental treasures. Recently, they have also gained popularity in China, known as "Tian Zhu" (Heavenly Beads), with many replicas made using similar techniques. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain extremely rare and highly prized.
