About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian, designed by baking natural dyes into agate to create patterns. These beads are believed to date from the 1st to 6th centuries AD, although the exact composition of the dyes remains a mystery. Mostly found in Tibet, they are also discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. The patterns, especially the circular "eye" motifs, are highly prized and considered symbols of wealth and prosperity, often passed down as heirlooms. While replicas made using similar techniques are widespread in China and referred to as "Tianzhu," original ancient Dzi Beads remain exceptionally rare and valuable.
