About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to Etched Carnelian, created by firing natural dyes onto agate to form intricate designs. Believed to have been made between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, adding to the intrigue of these antique beads. While primarily found in Tibet, they have also been discovered in regions such as Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. Different patterns on the beads hold various meanings, with the "eye" patterns being especially popular and highly valued for their excellent condition. In Tibetan culture, Dzi Beads are cherished as amulets for wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations and treasured as valuable ornaments. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" (Heavenly Beads), and many replicas using similar techniques have emerged. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain incredibly rare and highly sought after.
