About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian beads, created by baking natural dyes onto agate to form intricate designs. These beads are believed to date back to the 1st to 6th centuries AD. Despite their age, the exact composition of the dyes remains a mystery. Found primarily in Tibet, they are also discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Different patterns hold various meanings, with the "eye" motif being particularly sought after for its association with wealth and prosperity. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are treasured as protective amulets and passed down through generations. Their rarity has increased their value, especially as demand has grown in China where they are known as "Tianzhu" (Heavenly Beads). While many replicas are now produced using similar techniques, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain highly prized.
