About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian. They are designed by baking natural dyes into agate to create patterns. It is believed they were made between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. However, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, adding to the allure of these antique beads. While they are primarily found in Tibet, they have also been discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Different patterns are thought to hold various meanings, with the round "eye" motifs being particularly prized for their condition. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are considered to be amulets for wealth and prosperity and are passed down through generations as valuable heirlooms. Recently, they have gained popularity in China under the name "Tian Zhu," leading to many replicas made using similar techniques. However, genuine ancient Dzi Beads remain extremely rare and highly sought after.
