About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian, designed by baking natural dyes onto agate. These beads are believed to have been created between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. Despite extensive research, the exact components of the dyes used remain a mystery, adding to their intrigue. While primarily found in Tibet, they are also discovered in regions such as Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. Different patterns, especially the round "eye" designs, have specific meanings and are highly prized, especially those in good condition. In Tibetan culture, they are considered talismans for wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations and valued as precious adornments. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" (Heavenly Beads), leading to numerous replicas made using similar techniques. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain exceedingly rare and valuable.
