About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):
Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, created by baking natural dyes onto agate to form intricate patterns, similar to Etched Carnelian Beads. These beads are believed to date back to 1st to 6th centuries AD. Despite their age, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, adding to the beads' enigmatic allure. While primarily found in Tibet, Dzi Beads have also been discovered in regions like Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. The different baked patterns carry various meanings, with the round "eye" design being particularly valued. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are cherished as amulets for wealth and prosperity and are passed down through generations as treasured adornments. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" (Heavenly Beads). Though many replicas made with similar techniques are available, authentic ancient Dzi Beads are extremely rare and highly sought after.
