About Dzi Beads (Chongyi Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, renowned for their intricate patterns created through the natural dyeing and burning of agate, similar to Etched Carnelian beads. Believed to be made between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, the exact composition of the dyes remains a mystery, adding to their enigmatic allure. While predominantly found in Tibet, these beads have also been discovered in Bhutan and regions of the Himalayas such as Ladakh. The patterns, especially the circular "eyes," are thought to hold significant meanings and are highly prized, particularly in well-preserved conditions. In Tibetan culture, Dzi Beads are cherished as amulets for wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations as valuable adornments. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" and many replicas have been created using similar techniques. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain exceedingly rare and valuable.
