About Other Trade Beads:

Trade beads were passionately cherished as adornments by kings and nobles during the African slave trade era. These beads were predominantly produced in Venice and the Czech Republic (Bohemian glass) and traded globally, including in Africa, for slaves, gold, and ivory. The manufacturing techniques of these glass beads were kept highly secret, to the extent that craftsmen were prohibited from leaving their workplaces freely. Created differently from those intended for the European market, these beads were meticulously designed to cater to the preferences of various tribes, resulting in a vibrant variety of large and small, patterned and plain beads.
