About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads passed down through Tibetan culture. Similar to etched carnelian, these beads are designed by burning natural dyes into agate, creating unique patterns. It is believed that they were made around the 1st to 6th centuries AD. However, the exact composition of the dyes used remains a mystery, adding to the beads' enigmatic allure. Though primarily found in Tibet, Dzi Beads have also been discovered in Bhutan and the Himalayan region of Ladakh. Each pattern holds distinct meanings, with the round "eye" designs being especially prized. In Tibet, these beads are considered talismans of wealth and prosperity and are cherished and passed down through generations as valuable adornments. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are referred to as "Tian Zhu." Numerous replicas made using similar techniques are now available, but genuine ancient Dzi Beads remain extremely rare and valuable.
