About Dzi Beads (Chongyi Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet. Similar to Etched Carnelian, these beads feature patterns created by baking natural dyes into agate. It is believed that these beads were produced between the 1st and 6th centuries AD. However, the exact components of the dyes used in the baking process remain a mystery, adding to the enigmatic nature of these antique beads. While primarily found in Tibet, Dzi Beads have also been discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Each pattern carries different meanings, with the round "eye" motif being particularly prized. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are considered talismans of wealth and prosperity and have been cherished and passed down through generations. Recently, their popularity has soared in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" (Heavenly Beads), and numerous replicas made with similar techniques are widely available. However, authentic ancient Dzi Beads remain incredibly rare and valuable.
