About Dzi Beads (Chong Dzi Beads):

Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian, created by baking natural dyes onto agate to form intricate patterns. Believed to have been made between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, these beads remain a mystery due to the undisclosed composition of the dyes used. While primarily found in Tibet, they have also been discovered in regions like Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. Each pattern is thought to hold different meanings, with the "eye" motif being especially prized for its symbolism of wealth and prosperity. Treasured as talismans and heirlooms, Dzi Beads are highly valued in Tibetan culture. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tianzhu," leading to the production of numerous replicas. However, genuine ancient Dzi Beads are exceedingly rare and valuable.
