About Chinese Warring States Beads:
Warring States Beads refer to the glass beads crafted during the Warring States period (5th to 3rd century BCE) before China's unification under the Qin dynasty. The earliest Chinese glass artifacts, dating back to the 11th to 8th centuries BCE, were discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, it wasn't until the Warring States period that glass products began to circulate widely. Early Warring States beads were primarily made of faience, a type of ceramic material decorated with glass, but later fully glass beads were also produced. Common patterns include "Seven Star Beads" and "Eye Beads," characterized by spot-like decorations. Although many techniques and design elements in Chinese glassmaking were influenced by West Asian, particularly Roman, glass, the materials used in Chinese glass from this period differ in composition. This indicates the high level of glassmaking technology in ancient China. These beads are not only of historical significance as the beginning of China's glass history, but they are also popular among collectors for their rich designs and colors.
