About Chinese Warring States Beads:

Known as "Warring States Beads," these beads were crafted during China's Warring States period, approximately from the 5th to 3rd century BCE, before the unification by Qin. The oldest Chinese glass artifacts were excavated in Luoyang, Henan Province, dating back to the 11th to 8th century BCE. However, the widespread circulation of glass products began during the Warring States period. Early Warring States beads primarily featured faience, a ceramic material with glass patterns, and later transitioned to fully glass beads. Common designs include "Seven Star Beads" and "Eye Beads," characterized by spotted patterns. Although many design elements and glass-making techniques were influenced by Roman glass from Western Asia, the materials used in ancient Chinese glass, including Warring States beads, differ in composition. This distinction highlights the advanced glass-making techniques of ancient China. These beads are not only of historical significance, representing the beginning of Chinese glass history, but they are also highly prized for their rich designs and colors among collectors.
