About Ancient Chinese Warring States Beads:

Warring States Beads refer to glass beads produced during the Warring States period (5th to 3rd century BCE) before the unification of China by the Qin dynasty. While the earliest glass in China dates back to the 11th to 8th centuries BCE, discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province, widespread use of glass products began during the Warring States period. Early Warring States beads, known as "faience," were primarily made from a ceramic base with glass patterns, which later evolved into entirely glass-made beads. Common designs include the "Seven Star Beads" and "Eye Beads," characterized by spot patterns. The techniques and design elements were influenced by West Asian regions, such as Roman glass. However, the materials used in Chinese glass from this era differ in composition, showcasing the advanced glass-making technology of ancient China. These beads are not only of historical significance as the beginning of China's glass-making history but also cherished by collectors for their rich designs and vibrant colors.
