About Chinese Warring States Beads:

Warring States beads, known as "戦国玉" (Sen-goku Tama) in Japanese, were made during the Warring States period of Chinese history, approximately from the 5th to the 3rd century BCE, before the unification of China by the Qin Dynasty. The earliest Chinese glass, discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province, dates back to the 11th–8th century BCE. However, it was during the Warring States period that glass products began to circulate widely. Early Warring States beads typically featured faience (a ceramic-like material) bases decorated with glass patterns. Later, fully glass beads were also produced. Common designs include "Seven Star Beads" and "Eye Beads," characterized by their spotted patterns. While the glass-making techniques and many design elements were influenced by West Asian regions, such as Roman glass, the materials used in Chinese glass from this period are distinct. This difference highlights the advanced glass-making technology in ancient China.
