About Chinese Warring States Beads:

Warring States Beads, created during China's Warring States period (5th to 3rd century BCE), are early examples of glass beads. The earliest glass in China, dating back to the 11th to 8th centuries BCE, was discovered in Luoyang, Henan Province. However, widespread glass production and distribution began in the Warring States period. Initially, most beads were made from faience, a ceramic material decorated with glass patterns. Later, fully glass beads were produced. Common patterns include "Seven Star Beads" and "Eye Beads," characterized by their dot decorations.

While many techniques and design elements were influenced by West Asian regions such as Roman glass, the materials used in Chinese glass beads of this period differ, highlighting the sophistication of ancient Chinese glass-making. These beads are not only significant for their historical value, marking the advent of glass production in China, but also cherished for their diverse designs and vivid colors, making them popular among collectors.
